![]() FASTFORM ADVANCED Formerly known as FASTFORM3D Full-Featured Formability Analysis Software FASTFORM Advance is FTI's top of the line, fully featured formability analysis software. It is a specialized, finite element based software package designed specifically for simulating sheet metal forming. Several OEM automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers are currently using this software to lower their design costs and eliminate guesswork during die design. Other users include steel companies, aerospace, appliance and electronics manufacturers and other stampers and tool and die designers worldwide. PRODUCT FEATURES: Fast and Accurate Solution Industry benchmarks confirm analyses can take only minutes using FASTFORM Advanced. The software provides fast and accurate solutions, along with a wealth of post processing and visualization options. It is subject to continuous field testing against controlled experiments, production tooling, as well as incremental FEM programs. ![]() Automatic Meshing and Repair IGES and VDAF surfaces can be automatically meshed and repaired in seconds. The mesh repair system can also handle imported meshes (in NASTRAN format) for maximum interface flexibility with CAD and other CAE programs. Blank Prediction FASTFORM Advanced predicts very accurate blank shapes for any sheet metal parts including parts drawn parts with significant material stretch. This blank shape can be used for early cost analysis, nesting to optimize material usage and even die tryout. The blank shape can also be exported in either IGES or Nastran format for other applications. Parts with Extensive Undercut Most formability analysis packages currently on the market have difficulty dealing with parts with undercut or negative draft angles. This is not a problem for FASTFORM Advanced. Our software has no problem analyzing parts with extensive undercut. Automatic Mesh Filleting Unfilleted models can be automatically modified to add fillet radii. The user has the option to control the radius and mesh density of the fillet. User Defined Blank User Defined Blank allows the user to pre-define the blank shape that will be used and the part shape is modified interactively to automatically reflect the impact of the defined blank shape. Wrinkle Visualization The ability to visualize wrinkles is useful in interpretation and presentation of results. A wrinkle's geometric shape depends on the forming stresses, the part geometry, as well as support conditions. This feature allows the user to see the approximate wrinkle shape and location. Computer Aided Die Face Engineering (CADFE) Starting from a Class A surface or trim line, the program provides a fully automatic definition of addendum based on the user specified punch and die profile radii. The program will automatically define the minimum Punch Opening Line (POL) and the Die Opening Line (DOL), and from this generate the addendum onto a flat or curved binder. Automatic Curved Binder Generation and Analysis Curved Binders are used to improve formability, reduce and equalize draw depth and create more uniform initial contact with the blank. FASTFORM Advanced allows the binder shape to be included in the analysis, to provide a more accurate simulation of the actual press operation. For a quick feasibility binder, an optimized, fully developable binder surface can be automatically generated automatically based. The user can also import a binder developed in CAD. Automatic Forming Conditions (Fast Boundary) This unique feature allows a consistent and speedy turn around time for a complete solution. The program automatically determines the best edge forces that will achieve a user defined target strain at a selected point on the part. For example, this feature allows you to select a 3% x 2% target strain in the middle of a panel and the program will identify the type of restraining forces needed to create this stretch. Tailor Welded Blanks Defining weld lines on a part allows the user to optimize the weld line location and to see the impact of material thickness on formability. The quick solving time allows for various weld line locations and materials to be tested for feasibility. An unlimited number of weld line and material combinations can be tested for the analysis of complex parts. Punch Force The Punch Force result assists manufacturing engineers in calculating total press tonnage requirements to aid in press selection. Principal Strain Direction This important design capability allows visualization of the major and minor strain directions of the panel, as well as the material flow direction for part and process optimization. Using this feature, you can identify why material is not flowing to an area that is splitting or thinning. Now you can justify corrective action. Advanced Springback Analysis FTI's springback solver will predict springback after removing the part from the tool and will also calculate springback after trimming. The software provides multiple visualization tools to help the user interpret springback results. Springback geometry can be exported in NASTRAN format.
